At KJT Builders we know that loft conversions are becoming more and more popular. With the prices of new houses and cost of stamp duty it is becoming increasingly difficult to finance a move.
Even if finance isn’t an issue, you may like your current home and area and not want to move but just require extra space and added comfort in your home. This extra room can be used for almost any purpose from an extra bedroom due to a family addition, to somewhere to go and relax.
As experienced loft converters in Portsmouth, KJT Builders will inspect the loft space and advise you of the practicality of converting it into a useable room.
Another reason loft conversions are becoming popular is the fact that by adding an extra usable room onto your property you are increasing its value on the resale market.
The BBC reports that having a Loft conversion extension is the most effective way to boost the value of a property. (10.9% to a property’s value, the Nationwide Building Society survey found.) With loft conversion planning permission laws relaxed for homeowners “The new rules will cut out planning permission for about 80,000 households a year and crucially saving as much as £1,000 in some cases.”
You ideally need 8ft (2.4m) clearance, although you may find that you can still get a useful room from as little as 7ft (2.1m). A quick check with a tape measure will suffice. Also try to assess whether your roof was built using trussed rafters or purlins, as the latter is much easier to convert into usable loft space.
So, whether you are interested in having a Terraced House Loft Conversion, Semi Detached or Detached House Loft Conversion, or even a Loft Conversion on a Bungalow there will be a job that we can design to suit your needs.
